Connect your business software to your AI assistants

Learn how the Model Context Protocol connects AI assistants to business data and functions. Explore the MCP scope of MS Backoffice and HRFlow AI solutions.

What is MCP?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. This open protocol standardises how an AI application communicates with external services. An MCP server exposes tools and, depending on its implementation, resources and prompt templates. The assistant can then use business information rather than relying solely on general knowledge.

From question to business answer

  1. 01

    MCP-compatible AI assistant

You express your request in natural language.

  2. 02

    MCP server

It exposes available functions and handles authorised calls.

  3. 03

    Business application

Tools query data or perform permitted operations.

Example request

“Which customer invoices are overdue and what is their impact on cash flow?”

The assistant can use authorised accounting and customer-management tools, then present a summary. This illustrates a possible use, depending on enabled tools.

A scoped integration, not unlimited access

MCP does not automatically grant access to all data. Deployment must define authentication, permissions, exposed tools, traceability and human approval for sensitive actions. Compatibility depends on the chosen assistant and its configuration. Data sent to an assistant remains subject to its provider’s terms.
